Artist statement:

Samantha is a self-taught jewellery maker and metal artist, her current work is the exploration of memory; it’s fragility, preciousness and decay.  She creates  the memory vessels using etching techniques and by creating processes that apply patina, damage, colour and decay.

Work statement:

Our memories fray at the edges under the mercy of our emotions and desires. They carry the complexity and weight of our own narratives, whilst exploration brings forth glimpses of a past eroded by the passing of time. Through the making of Memory Vessels and the treatment of the metals, Samantha explores and captures the fragility, decay and preciousness of memories. The vessels wane between the uncontrollable and the controlled; they are both captured and destroyed.
